Speak Better, Keep Your Poise

Posture is important in public speaking. Poor posture gives a negative impression of the speaker, restricts the power of the voice. If you crane your neck and thrust your chin forward, you create tension in the throat and restrict the space where your voice can vibrate. If you slump your shoulders forward, you constrict you lungs and lose breathing space. The same happens when you let your spine curve into an S- shape and you push your stomach forward. So the best thing to do when speaking in public is to relax, take deep breaths, and keep that posture right.
